3 Week Howler Update: Sniffing, Stumbling, and Starting Trouble

This week has been an exciting one for the Howlers! Their senses are coming online, and their noses are getting fine-tuned. Right now, they’re still quite nearsighted and can’t track movement well—so when Mom steps into the pen, they can smell her but don’t realize she’s standing right in front of them. Cue some truly entertaining moments of confused little noses sniffing in all directions.
We've seen a big leap in stamina this week, and the pups have officially graduated from the whelping box to a larger X-pen. They’re quite the vocal bunch, playing regularly, exploring their ever-changing setup, and tackling new obstacles, oversized toys, and different footing every day.
Potty training is officially underway with potty pads in place (a potty box soon to be installed). Visitors are scheduled, most of their teeth have erupted, and they’ll be starting on solids here soon. Saoirse is now standing to nurse and has begun laying down the law when they get too nippy—because, let’s be honest, sharp little teeth and nursing don’t mix.
The pups also received their first dose of Pyrantel Pamoate this week. Growing takes a lot of energy, and we can’t have parasites stealing their nutrition.
Pictures were down and dirty (quite literally) this week. Momma came in muddy and deciding that it was taking too long for me to find the towel, gave up the wait and hopped in to feed (a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do when she's full). So, we had messy faces and dish cloth baths. Ignore the super clean house in the background; I'm still looking for a maid....
I've included some observational notes, knowing full well these personalities will change over night and everyone is still developing at a rapid pace. However it is fun.
Healthy, happy, and increasingly mischievous—that’s the Howler update for this week!

Squire is the most vocal this week. He is pretty full of himself and loves to listen to his own howling, barking, and whining.

Sarge is a love bug, and also is beginning to demand whine. But once he is sitting and quiet he gets the cuddles he so looks forward to. He's a quick study and is picking up the rules quickly.

Little Sam is quietly studying this week. She plays but is also content to sit and watch/listen.

Mahala is a big girl who is all about playing. Where ever there is a pile of pups, she's in the center of it.

Punch is a lover of everything; cuddles, play, new toys. He has learned quickly that sitting gets attention.

JT is on the move, everywhere. He is still when he is sleeping, which is is plenty happy to do in your arms. Don't tease him about his moustache!

Dolly is another girl that likes to sit and study this week, and will climb right up into a lap to do so. Like a queen on her throne, she watches her subjects run around below her.

This boy has a nose on him! Ches is all about discovering all the smells of his environment. He's also pretty tenacious about getting to anything he loves the smell of.

The quiet lover. Bush will sit for long periods to wait for his turn for snuggles. He loves to hang with his people.

Our last little girl, Fed, is a spit fire this week. Confident, not worried about noises or strange moving toys or footing. Of course she's always up for a cuddle.
This is such a beautiful litter. I love your description of each pup's personality as they mature.
I love reading about their little personalities! So sweet.
