Our family adopted Mica, a male puppy born 12-5-2021.  I have typically raised and trained German Shepherd dogs however, my husband and I were in the process of purchasing 50 acres and I had been told that the English Shepherd breed was a good working dog for a small farm.  We had the good fortune of connecting with April at Liquid Moon Farms about acquiring one of her puppies.  After a lengthy application, phone interviews and a zoom meeting we had the privilege of being a good fit with Mica.  April is extremely diligent about both understanding the temperament of her puppies and, placing them with a good fit of lifestyle and needs of the new potential owners.  Our puppy had a very good start with manners and training (both scent and obedience) and transitioned easily into the family.  He has confidence without being aggressive.  April has made herself available for every question and potential concern we have had.  It has been comforting to know she is so committed to the puppies well being and success (and to ours).  April has become a trusted friend and confidant while raising Mica.

Mica is everything I read about English Shepherds.  He is super smart, super connected with his family, always watching and waiting for commands and direction.  At two years old he has a solid recall (took some time), knows the “rules” (even though he pushes against them at times), protective of his donkeys, chickens and cat, and loves learning new skills.  He plays hard and sleeps hard (in the silly ES style on his back with legs out in different directions).  He has a strong prey drive and keeps squirrels, ravens, deer, turkeys and other critters away from the farm animals and barn.  Mica has a high pitch vocalization when he scents deer or other wild animals.  He is the most athletic dog I have ever had; loves to run and jump and running brings him great joy.  I am glad we have the property for him to have some freedom to enjoy.  Mica is also super healthy and we have had no issues with him physically, mentally or emotionally.  I can’t imagine life without him! -BettyKay
